You have arrived at the web site for Ron Cameron.
I am an acting teacher, theatre director, writer,
adjudicator and workshop leader.
I have been teaching acting
for the Music Theatre Department at Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning in Oakville,
Ontario, Canada since 1973. In addition, for the past 15 years I
have been very involved as teacher/director
in the joint program in Theatre & Drama Studies that Sheridan College
shares with the University of
Toronto at Mississauga (UTM).

In January 2006. I directed a production of Carol Shield's Thirteen Hands for Theatre Erindale. It was very succesful, smashing box office records and generating a lot of interest. So we are remounting it in March 2007 at Hart House Theatre in Toronto with the original cast who were one of the most delightful groups of actors I've worked with. You can book on-line through the Hart House link. From the fall of 2006 through to late winter 2007, I will be adjudicating the Comedy category for the Association of Community Theatres – Central Ontario. I’ve worked with ACT-CO many times over the past three decades and I always enjoy the variety of shows I see throughout central Ontario. Check out the dates and times of shows at the ACT-CO home page and try to catch some of the productions. I will also be directing a collective at UTM in the fall of 2006 with the incoming third-year class of students in the Theatre & Drama Studies program. We plan to adapt the story of the seven Marks Brothers from Perth, Ontario, who toured melodramas around North America from the 1870’s to the 1920’s. More links will be added when we get moving on this project I've also worked with numerous community theatre groups throughout Ontario and in the United States. Here are links to to access the excellent resources at the web pages of Theatre Ontario and the American Association of Community Theatre. Theatre Ontario has a listing of professional theatre workshop leaders - listed in a variety of catefories in its Talent Bank - so if you are looking for someone with special skills contact them for details. I'm listed in four categories. Acting Workshops, Adjudication Workshops, Musical Direction Workshops and Voice Workshops
I did most of my theatre training in London (England) at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and London University
The objective of this site is to help point you to a number of
resources that might be of interest to you, if you share my passion for
theatre. If you don't find what you're looking for, though, click on my Ask Me link and I
will get back to you with information or suggestions as soon as I can.
Another purpose for the Ask Me link is to
provide help for people who are having problems with their acting work
during the rehearsal process, or who may need some guidance in any aspect
of theatre. Perhaps I can suggest exercises or solutions based on four
decades in theatre and three decades in education.
My book on acting, Acting
Skills for Life, is now in its third edition with The Dundurn Group. The book is a
compilation of exercises and rehearsal ideas for the novice actor and
theatre teacher/director. Its 473 pages are packed with practical,
down-to-earth material. Retailing for $29.99 Canadian, the book can be
ordered through The Dundurn
Group web page, or at my favourite theatre bookstore in Toronto,
TheatreBooks. It is also
carried by Chapters/Indigo.
In the 2001/2002 theatre season, I adjudicated in the Comedy category for the Association of Community Theatres - Central Ontario (known as ACT-CO). The production that won that Festival went on to represent ACT-CO at the Theatre Ontario Festival in Sarnia.
In July/August 2002, I spent a couple of months working at the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. I had a very happy time there at the Charlottetown Festival. I did some Master Classes and coaching sessions with the acting company, and worked with the inaugural season of the Charlottetown Centre’s Summer Theatre Camp. Check my photo page where I'll shortly be uploading some digital shots from my summer experience. And if you’re looking for a place to send a young person between 9 and 18 years of age for an intensive theatre camp experience, contact the folks at the Charlottetown Festival.
In September 2002, I adjudicated the New England Regional Theatre Competition in Concord, New Hampshire. It was hosted by the New Hampshire Community Theatre Association. In October, I conducted a workshop in Windsor, Ontario, for Theatre Intrigue. And at differing times throughout the winter of 2002-03, I adjudicated the Drama category for ACT-CO.
If you're looking for an Adjudicator for your theatre festival or
